The hour long, recorded session showcased exciting ways that creative expressions -- The Arts -- are moving Food Justice and Anti-Hunger efforts forward. Emmy-award winning documentarian Von Diaz, renowned fiber artist Stephen Towns and Founder of Poetry X Hunger Hiram Larew shared key insights. The Aspen Institute's Corby Kummer moderated. Hosted by Donna Guerin of Global Lighthouse Studios, Hiram Larew joined students and teachers from around the world in a discussion of poetry as a learning tool. During this hour-long session, we covered the various ways that poetry can be used in learning environments, and poems by Taku Chikepe, Aaron R and Brian Donnell James were shared. "Using Poetry in Extension/Outreach Programs? Really??!!??"
Here's the 60-minute recording of Program Center Stage's webinar, hosted by the Extension Foundation, and co-led by Hiram Larew and Dave Myers. We visit with several Extension specialists about using poetry, yes, poetry! in extension outreach activities. The session's message: Need help reaching your learners? Try poetry! It's fun. VidGrid - Program Center Stage: Poetry in Extension Our Poetry Fundraiser for Roots for Life on January 21, 2023 was pretty darn fine. All the hunger-focused poems and remarks were very, very moving. And as a result, Roots for Life is going to benefit!! Yes!

Ten percent of US Households Were Food Insecure in 2021
The US Department of Agriculture has recently released a report about household levels of food (in)security in the US in 2021. One key finding is that more than 10% of households in the US were food insecure.
