August 1, 2024 -- Poetry X Hunger proudly announces its first grant to a creative arts organization that is fighting hunger.
New Jersey’s East Coast Arts & Literature League (ECALL; ecallonline.org ) will use the support to hold a poetry competition with a hunger theme. In addition to raising awareness about hunger issues, ECALL will use the competition to raise donations for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. Winning poems will be published on the Poetry X Hunger website. In accepting the grant, ECALL President Tara Tomczyk described the importance of the grant: “All of us here at ECALL are thrilled to be working with Poetry X Hunger and Chesapeake Charities to host our first-ever poetry contest. As a very new nonprofit organization supporting artists in all fields, we’re excited to provide an opportunity for our members and all poets to make a difference fighting hunger while also making art. We’re grateful for the help, and can’t wait to read the poems!” Founder of Poetry X Hunger, Hiram Larew is just as enthusiastic: “Our work with ECALL is another exciting example of poetry’s power to fight hunger. Congratulations to ECALL on receiving this first Poetry X Hunger-funded grant.” For more information on the grant requesting process -- Recipients and Donors - Poetry X Hunger For more information on making a donation to Poetry X Hunger -- Poetry X Hunger | Chesapeake Charities To contact Poetry X Hunger, email [email protected] Poetry X Hunger is a component fund of Chesapeake Charities, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered with the State of Maryland.
